Straight grain, soft surface which is prone to
scratches and denting.

Accepts finishes well. Finishes sometimes are blotchy (see "spitcoat"). |
Durability:

White pine tends to be very soft. This may make it unsuitable for some furniture
applications. |

carpentry, veneer.

Comments:

White Pine is one of the most common woods. It
was very popular during the Colonial Period. Most first growth White Pine was cut down
long ago. Second growth trees are beginning to mature. White Pine is very common and is
available at most "home centers". |
