Botanical Name:	Diospyros spp.
Other Names:	Calamander Wood, Golden ebony, Marblewood.
Natural Characteristics:	Very dense with a brittle heartwood. Dark grain.
Color:	Brown to Black. Dark black grain with occasional brown grain.
Woodworking Qualities:	Blunts and dulls blades, does not glue well.
Finishing Qualities:
Durability:
Uses:	Turnings, decorative inlay, instruments, pool cues.
Comments:	Can be difficult to work with. The dark hard heartwood can be brittle. Ebony is very rare.
Price:	Very expensive
