This counter balanced lid stay has an internal spring that helps to support
lids on toy boxes, Hi-Fi cabinets, and other applications when a lid can harm a
child's fingers. The lid support is back mounted and can be used in a range of
applications. It is non-handed meaning that is can be used in right and left
hand lid applications. Heavier lid may require more support and caution should
be taken when designing heavy lids on toy boxes.
The support is rated at 90 inches per .16 torque per support. To determine
the torque range use the following formula: Torque = lid weight (lbs.) x width
of lid (inches) divided by 2. Lid weight is total unhinged weight of the lid Lid
width is the distance from the hinge to the front of the lid Torque ranges
higher than 90 inches/lbs can be reached by adding supports
